Energy Outlook video available

Last week I mentioned how my colleague Bill Colton and I were in Washington to release ExxonMobil’s 2014 Outlook for Energy: A View to 2040.

As we have done with past years, the unveiling took place at the headquarters of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which, as its mission statement notes, has been studying the world’s greatest challenges for five decades.

Over the course of an hour, Bill and I explained the economic and technological assumptions that underpin the Outlook and their application to ExxonMobil’s business, not to mention their potential application to the broader discussion about energy markets, global needs, and sound policy.

CSIS has graciously made the video of last week’s event available.

The event is divided into two parts. The first is Bill’s presentation, and you can click here to see the slides Bill references as he discusses the 2014 Outlook’s highlights.

The second half of the hour is dedicated to a wide-ranging Q&A session moderated by CSIS scholar Sarah Ladislaw. We talked about everything from the size and scale of our energy challenges to carbon policy and international trade.

Because of time constraints, we couldn’t address every question, particularly from those who were viewing the webcast live. But if you have something you’d like to ask, leave your question in the comments and I’ll try to answer.
